Easy Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Learn how to make the best homemade pumpkin spice latte with this easy  and quick recipe. It uses real pumpkin puree, coffee, and fall spices.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (you can use maple syrup instead)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee or 1-2 shots of espresso
  • Whipped cream (optional for topping)
  • Cinnamon sticks (for topping)

This versatile pumpkin latte can easily be made vegan, gluten-free, low-calorie, low-fat, soy-free, and nut-free, depending on the ingredients you choose.

  • Coffee or Espresso: Use your preferred brewed coffee, like dark roast (French roast is a great option), or go for medium, light roast, cold brew, or decaf for a low-caffeine version. For a stronger latte, use two shots of espresso instead.

  • Milk: Whole milk and oat milk typically create the best steamed foam. Almond milk or soy milk are great alternatives, though low-fat milk and carton coconut milk may not foam as well.

  • Sweetener: Choose your favorite sweetener, whether it's regular sugar, brown sugar, coconut sugar, date sugar, pure maple syrup, agave, or even xylitol for a keto-friendly and sugar-free version.

  • Pumpkin: Canned pumpkin puree works perfectly for convenience. If you’re feeling ambitious or if canned pumpkin isn’t available, you can make your own by roasting a pie pumpkin or kabocha squash.

  • Vanilla & Spices: Add pure vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice to bring out the fall flavors.

Instructions:
  1. Make the Pumpkin Base:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  2. Heat the Milk:
Add the milk to the saucepan and whisk until the mixture is hot, but not boiling. You can also use a milk frother if you want a foamier texture.

  3. Add Coffee/Espresso:
Remove the saucepan from heat and whisk in the brewed coffee or espresso.

  4. Assemble:
Pour the pumpkin spice mixture into your favourite mug. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon if desired.

Enjoy your cozy, homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte!
